Recommended Kusawa Park Management Plan forwarded to governments for approval

February 2, 2016

The Kusawa Park Steering Committee forwarded the Recommended Kusawa Park Management Plan for approval by governments of the four parties: Carcross Tagish First Nation, Champagne Aishihik First Nation, Kwanlin Dun First Nation and Yukon government on January 19 2016.

The recommended plan was prepared pursuant to Chapter 10, Schedule A of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Kwanlin Dün First Nation Final Agreements.

The steering committee confirms that the plan respectfully and appropriately addresses the matters contained in this chapter of the Final Agreements and the provisions for park establishment and management planning contained in the Parks and Land Certainty Act. As delegates in the planning process, the steering committee worked collaboratively to achieve consensus on all matters before them.

The park steering committee is now disbanded. The four parties have agreed upon the establishment of a four party Park Management Committee upon the approval of the park plan.
